We are pleased to announce that two more speakers have confirmed their attendance at the conference.

Trevor Esling of Gulfstream and Isabelle Newson of Credit Suisse have both confirmed their participation as speakers. More details to follow soon.

Director of ICM Aviation, Mark Byrne told us:

I am delighted that Trevor and Isabelle are able to join us and indeed all of the speakers and delegates signed up so far. I think we have a very strong speaker list and we will be able to publish the full conference programme soon. We have recently returned from EBACE which was a hectic show for us. There is no doubt that there is huge interest in what the Isle of Man has to offer, from the Aircraft Registry to the numerous corporate, financial and administrative services that professional service providers offer.

Director of Civil Aviation presents key changes in legislation

The Isle of Man Aircraft Registry is supporting the 2nd Isle of Man Aviation Conference which focuses on the fact that 2012 promises to be a year of change within the industry.

Hartley Elder, Isle of Man Director of Civil Aviation, is one of the speakers and he plans to outline the changes in legislation over the next 2 years which will bring the Isle of Man into conformity with the revised Standards in ICAO Annex 6 Part II, International General Aviation.

The key changes include the need for a more structured approach to the operation of the aircraft and will include:

  • The need for an operations manual, including:
    • Flight crew fatigue management (but will NOT include flight time limitations)
    • Safety Management Systems (SMS) which can be scaled and is appropriate to the size and complexity of the operation
  • The need for a maintenance control manual detailing how the operator will manage the day to day continuing airworthiness needs of the aircraft – this can include delegation of tasks to nominated persons
  • The need for an approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL)

Hartley told us:

The Isle of Man Aircraft Registry, as the world’s only dedicated executive jet register, will continue to be pragmatic and practical in our approach to the above changes and will seek to create a bespoke solution for the sector. The registry is proud of its high regulatory standards, high service levels and quality international reputation, aspects which have helped the Registry grow to nearly 500 aircraft in size in only 5 years, and is committed to maintaining these qualities for the benefit of its global customer base.
